Small Class Sizes

We have small class sizes so staff find your strengths and areas for further development quickly, to help promote good progress. You get to know the staff quickly too and where to find them throughout the day. We’re a close-knit community – small enough for you to get to know fellow students and staff quickly.

Big Enough To Thrive, Small Enough To Care

Big Enough To Thrive, Small Enough To Care

We say we’re ‘big enough to thrive, small enough to care’ because we’re the perfect size – big enough to offer all the opportunities students need, but small enough so that every student gets that individual care and attention.

A third of our students are from other high schools around South Manchester and as far as Oldham, meaning you get to meet new people and form new friendships. All students share a timetabled lunchtime and we have two recently renovated catering areas for you to relax and socialise in.

Don’t just take our word for it though, read what our students have had to say about their experience:

Our Partners

Students are supported in their own pathways by a huge range of opportunities that are presented by our partners:

  • The Sutton Trust – a social mobility trust providing higher education study programmes
  • EF (Education First) – to offer international students a one-year placement in a British post-16 provision
  • Nuffield Foundation – every year we have students who apply and are accepted onto their research programme
  • Manchester University – lectures every year and more recently our students took part in a vaccination study with the NHS to try and reduce the carriage of Meningitis B
  • Salford University – our Biology students have conducted research that contributed to their large-scale studies such as investigating bacteria found in soil
  • Liverpool John Moores – have more recently supported us with bridging materials for our sixth formers to help with their transition to university
  • Kaboodle – a local technology solutions provider who come into sixth form to talk to students about digital marketing and offer opportunities for them to get involved
  • Reading List Foundation – Support us by offering one Year 13 student a year a Scholarship Award of £250 towards university text books on leaving college
