Drama and Theatre

The course will be delivered using a combination of practical group work, class discussion and presentations and theatre visits. Students will be required to complete additional research, complete written assignments and rehearse practical performance pieces out of class time.

  • Whole school production – you can take part in our whole-school productions as a performer, technician, stage hand or box office manager
  • Drama clubs – a chance to lead lower school drama clubs and act as a role model for younger students
  • Casting agents and auditions – regular casting agents hold auditions at Parrs Wood. Lots of our students go into the industry (Robbie Conway & Johnny Bennett in Shameless; George Bukhari in BBC’s Ordinary Lies; Qasim Akhtar in Shameless & Coronation Street; Joe Gill in Emmerdale)
  • Working with professionals – actors, technicians, directors, stage producers all come and work with our students
  • Technical theatre group ‘Shout’ – backstage theatre team who help out with all analyse it productions, shows and events
  • Gold Arts Award – nationally accredited qualification which is achieved through you to undertaking projects, work experience and research in the art. It is the equivalent of 16 UCAS points

During the school day our onsite car park is out of bounds to general visitors, please use the Parrs Wood Complex car park adjacent to the school, for all disabled badge holder parking please follow the signs as you drive into the car park, there are parking bays located at the front of the school and also at the rear of our sports centre.
